Former U.S. Sen. Howard Baker, a one-time towering political figure in Washington who also was a chief of staff to President Ronald Reagan, has died, his former spokesman said.
Baker was 88.
The Tennessee Republican also ran for president in 1980.
His former press secretary, Tom Griscom, said Baker died today.
