The House voted 316-113 to approve a year-end $1.1 trillion spending package that would avoid a government shutdown and fund federal agencies through next fall.
The Senate planned to clear the bill later Friday before sending the package to President Barack Obama, who has indicated he will sign it into law.
Obama is scheduled to address a range of issues in his year-end news conference today at 1:50 p.m. ET.
