Fri, 28 Jan 2011 01:39 pm PST The Atlantic Wire - On Friday, Raymond Davis, an American employed at the U.S. consulate in Lahore, Pakistan, appeared in a Pakistani court on murder charges. As of now, the story of how Davis came to be in court is hotly disputed, but according to Pakistani police reports, Davis was driving through Lahore on Thursday when two men rode up on a motorcycle and attempted to rob him. Davis shot and killed both men. At some point, Davis called the U.S. consulate for help, and when a Land Cruiser from the consulate arrived on the scene to assist him, it hit and killed a third man. Moody's, the credit rating agency, cautioned that it may need to downgrade its AAA-rating of U.S. debt sooner than expected, while the International Monetary Fund argued that America must tackle its mounting debt and confront thorny issues like entitlements if it wants to maintain its credibility in global markets.
