Arriving for the first Democratic debate of the presidential campaign, Bernie Sanders vowed to address "the collapse of the American middle class."
The debate in Las Vegas, sponsored by CNN and Facebook, offers Sanders and front-runner Hillary Clinton a first face-to-face clash after months of circling each other from a distance. Three other hopefuls -- Lincoln Chafee, Martin O'Malley and Jim Webb -- are looking to grab some buzz for campaigns barely registering in the polls.
The GOP front-runner, Donald Trump, has pledged to live-tweet the #DemDebate, which could create an unwelcome distraction for candidates trying to get their message out.
