Family members told investigators that the Oregon gunman had sought mental health treatment, two officials say.
Investigators have recovered writings believed to be his that include ramblings about his racial animus toward African-Americans and general feelings of anger about being isolated and unable to make relationships, law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation tell CNN.
Six weapons were recovered at Umpqua Community College after Thursday's shooting, and seven more were found at the shooter's home, according to the ATF. A flak jacket with steel plates and five magazines were also found at the school.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown is expected to speak soon about the shooting. Watch her live on CNNgo, and get complete coverage of breaking news on CNN TV, CNN.com and CNN Mobile.
