Despair after savings for wife's surgery goes up in smoke

KUALA LUMPUR - A SUPERVISOR is in despair after a fire razed his house, wiping out all the cash he had kept for his wife's surgery. 'It's going to be tough. I had saved RM5,000 (S$2,040) for my wife's cancer surgery but now all that money is gone in the fire,' said C. Muniandy (inset), 45. He said he had just withdrawn the money from a bank on Saturday to prepare for her surgery today.
