Another Hackathon Runner-Up Lets You Control Human Chess Pieces Via iPhone Top
A 5:45 this morning, a man told another man to walk into traffic blindfolded. Using an iPhone app connected to their service, joysti.cc , Jarod Reyes moved Jon Gottfried trough light traffic in what amounted to a real-life game of Frogger. While I often think that we’d be better off if most start-up founders went to play in traffic, I never meant that they had to do it in real life, yet these two actually pulled it off and without killing anyone. This open source project allows programmers to build game mechanics and send game commands audibly through a smartphone connected to headphones. For example, you could program in a chess game and then force pawns to walk inexorably to their death or, as the gents point out, you could play virtual Tetris, piling bodies willy nilly like some mad scientist intent on creating a human-centipede-esque amalgam of flesh. The pair will be using the program this summer to stage larger games in fields around Brooklyn and Manhattan and they’re looking for folks to port their own games to the platform. You can tweet them here and check out the code here . You can also see Jon playing the game in the video below. Product Page

Dispatch.io, Hackathon Runner-Up, Tames The Cloud Top
Three friends, including a 17-year-old high schooler, who met at New Work City , a co-working space, built Dispach.io to solve the problem of disperse information. The product, as it exists currently, is a Chrome extension that allows you to grab Word files and PDFs and automatically place them into Google Docs or Dropbox. Future iterations, probably available in the next month, should support more filetypes and more organizational systems. The 17-year-old is Alex Godin and the two other fellows started Airdropper . Together they created Dispatch.io to solve problems with file sharing. Watch this space for more from this cold-soup-sounding start-up but the guys are pretty excited about the product and from what I saw – dead simple file grabs from web pages using a smooth and simple interface – this looks to be an interesting product. Mo' Money: Square Now Processing $3 Million A Day In Mobile Payments Top
That was fast. Just like that Square passed $3 million in transactions processed, on a Saturday no less, according to a Tweet an hour ago by CEO Jack Dorsey. The mobile payments startup is seeing an acceleration in transaction volume. It took about 10 months from its public launch for Square to reach $1 million a day in payments going through its mobile app. Getting to $2 million a day only took about two months. And now, less than a month later, it is passing $3 million. Visa just invested , transaction volume is picking up—things are looking good for Square. COO Keith Rabois will be at Disrupt NYC. We’ll be sure to ask him what’s driving the surge in Square payments. @jack Jack Dorsey Boom. @ Square processed over $3 million today so far. Big weekend going into a bigger week. http://instagr.am/p/EjYzY/ about 21 hours ago via Instagram Reply Retweet Favorite CrunchBase Information Square Jack Dorsey Information provided by CrunchBase
