Child rapist Eric Eugene Hartwell has been caught after seven days and 1,700 miles on the run, the U.S. Marshals Service said today.
Hartwell apparently cut off his ankle monitor last Friday and left a group home in Denver, where he was serving parole, a Colorado official said. He was apprehended in Norfolk, Virginia, the Marshals Service said.
Hartwell was convicted of raping a child in 1991 and attempted indecent liberties in 1996, according to the Colorado sex offender registry.
