A new trial has been ordered for Mississippi death row inmate Michelle Byrom, according to a state Supreme Court opinion.
Byrom was sentenced to death for the 1999 slaying of her husband, Edward Byrom Sr.
The case has drawn national scrutiny -- including a recent story on CNN.com -- because her son, Edward Byrom Jr., has said in jailhouse letters and in an interview with a court-appointed psychologist that he was the killer. He later recanted.
