The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office in Ohio has handed over to prosecutors the results of its investigation into the shooting death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice.
"We have concluded our work and I have turned it over to the prosecutor, who will take it through the next steps," Sheriff Clifford Pinkney said in a statement.
In November, Cleveland Police Officer Timothy Loehmann fired the fatal shots at Tamir within two seconds of arriving outside a recreation center where the sixth-grader was playing with a pellet gun. The boy died the next day.
