Just one day before Dawit Alemu was set to graduate from college, he was beaten unconscious by a group of men outside his home. Prosecutors say Alemu sustained brain damage and may never recover his sight. One of the men accused of the assault, Justin L. Phillips, faced a judge on Friday.

Event raises funds to locate missing persons with brain disorders

People with and without disabilities participated in the second annual Tour de Park Linn Hendershot Memorial Bike Ride and Walk at Fairgrounds Park. The event was a fundraiser for a project called Project Lifesaver, which provides rapid response to locate missing persons with autism, Alzheimers disease, Down syndrome and other brain disorders.
