EBX restructuring to leave $1.7 billion debt, $2 billion in assets: source

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - The restructuring of Brazil's EBX industrial conglomerate will likely leave its controlling shareholder Eike Batista with about $1.7 billion of debt and up to $2 billion of assets, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told Reuters on Thursday. The sale of assets in EBX companies such as utility MPX Energia SA and iron ore miner MMX Mineração e Metálicos SA will allow Batista to retire his debts with Brazilian banks. The restructuring will also cut his debt with Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala by more than 25 percent to between $1.6 billion and $1. ...

REUTERS/Toru Hanai(Reuters) - Japan's Panasonic Corp plans to shut down its sole European solar cell plant next March and dismiss about 500 workers at the factory, the Nikkei reported. The Hungarian factory will end production in September, leaving the company with one solar cell plant each in Japan's Osaka and Shiga prefectures and another in Malaysia, the business newspaper said. Equipment from the Hungarian facility will be transported to the other plants, the daily said. The European solar energy market is dominated by Chinese suppliers such as Yingli Green Energy . ...

FDA approves Orexo drug to treat opioid addiction

By Toni Clarke (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Swedish drugmaker Orexo AB's drug to treat opioid addiction, the company said on Thursday, sending its shares up as much as 14.3 percent in Stockholm. The tablet, Zubsolv, dissolves under the tongue. It combines the drugs buprenorphine and naloxone and will compete with similar products, Subutex and Suboxone, made by Britain's Reckitt-Benckiser Group Plc. Orexo said its drug offers a benefit to patients over Suboxone because less is required to achieve the same effect. ...
