Irma's downgrade from a hurricane to a tropical storm Monday did nothing to quell the threat of more destruction in the coming hours.
The storm, packing 65 mph winds, is moving into Georgia and the state’s entire coast is under a storm surge warning.
Irma has left 6.2 million customers in Florida without power – including most of Miami. In addition, Jacksonville is seeing a historic level of flooding.
Irma made landfall Sunday on the Florida Keys, but the extent of devastation there is still not clear because officials say many of the islands are currently inaccessible.
