Death penalty to be sought in Utah police shootings

Reuters - SALT LAKE CITY (Reuters) - Prosecutors said on Monday they will seek the death penalty against a Utah Army veteran suspected of killing one police officer and wounding five others in a shootout during a drug raid at his home. Snoop Dogg arrested on marijuana charge

photoSAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) - Rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested over the weekend after border control agents found what they said was a small amount of marijuana on his tour bus. The singer and record producer, 40, was stopped at the same Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint on Saturday where country singer Willie Nelson was arrested for marijuana possession in 2010, customs officials said. Reuters - WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A former U.S. Army soldier trained in intelligence and cryptology has been arrested and charged for trying to help the Somali al Shabaab militant group, an al Qaeda affiliate, the U.S. Justice Department said on Monday. Craig Baxam, 24 and from a Maryland suburb outside Washington, was arrested by Kenyan authorities last month as he tried to cross the border into Somalia to join the group, federal prosecutors said. The Atlantic Wire - Federal authorities say they've arrested an "Islamic extremist" who tried to buy weapons to attack sites around Tampa, Florida, using vehicle bombs, assault rifles, and grenades that an F.B.I. agent disabled before selling to him. It's a dramatic-sounding bust for the F.B.I., but becomes a little less so after you learn the guy only had access to the weapons he wanted because an undercover agent provided it. ... Full Story
