SAG pension chief Bruce Dow takes leave of absence

Reuters - LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Bruce Dow, the chief executive officer of the Screen Actors Guild -- Producers Pension & Health Plans (SAG-PPHP) will take a leave of absence from the organization, TheWrap has learned. Dow has been dogged by allegations from an ousted employee that he covered up an embezzlement scheme and used the funds for personal expenses. Less than two weeks ago, the board of trustees for SAG-PPHP released a statement to members announcing that a review of the charges by an outside counsel found that the bulk of the allegations against Dow were false. ... VH1 checks out of "Celebrity Rehab" for now

Reuters - LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - VH1 has decided to drop "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" like a bad habit. At least for the time being. While the cable network hasn't outright canceled the series, which has run for five seasons since its 2008 debut, it has no plans for new episodes of the reality offering for the foreseeable future. A representative for VH1 told TheWrap that "Celebrity Rehab" -- which stars Dr. Drew Pinsky and a rotating cast of famous faces struggling to recover from substance abuse -- "is not on the schedule currently. ... Former Morgan Creek files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Reuters - LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - A company that owns rights to Morgan Creek's international library has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Bermuda-based Inverness Distribution Ltd., filed papers in Bankruptcy Court in New York on December 30. It already had filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection. Under Chapter 15, Inverness was shielded from lawsuits from creditors in the U.S. The new status will let Inverness, now run by liquidators who were appointed by officials in Bermuda, file lawsuits in the United States. ... "Ninja Turtles" co-creator auctioning off art studio

The answer will be known Wednesday night, which marks the end of the 10-day eBay auction for the studio -- drawing table, rare artwork, personal effects, toys and all. photo(Reuters) - U.S. album sales rose in 2011 for the first time since 2004, partly reflecting cheaper album prices and special offers as well as a booming vinyl market, music industry analysts said on Wednesday. Album sales grew by 1.4 percent to 330.6 million units in 2011 according to figures published in Billboard magazine, up from 326.2 million in 2010. 'Paranormal Activity 4' gets October release date

The network has ordered a pilot for a new drama called "Cult," from "Gossip Girl" executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and "Hart of Dixie" executive producer Len Goldstein. Schwartz, Savage and Goldstein will executive-produce, as will "V" writer Rockne O'Bannon, who will write the pilot. Fox News was far and away the top rated cable news network during last night's coverage of the early presidential contest...and unlike Mitt Romney's victory over Rick Santorum, it wasn't by eight votes. Myler, who replaces Kevin Convey, had long been a close lieutenant of Murdoch, serving as managing editor of the New York Post before he was brought to London to clean up the scandal-plagued News of The World in 2007. District Judge Jed Rakoff in Manhattan on Wednesday said Church & Dwight Co, which makes cat litter under its Arm & Hammer brand, showed a high likelihood of "irreparable harm" from Clorox's ad.
