Despite having Gareth Barry sent off in the 73rd minute, first-half goals from Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and a second-half penalty from James Milner helped City, who had lost to Sunderland only two days ago, to a comprehensive victory. ... Mourinho rocket sparks Real comeback

Reuters - MADRID (Reuters) - Holders Real Madrid scored three times in 10 minutes at the Bernabeu on Tuesday to beat Malaga 3-2 in their King's Cup last 16 first leg, sparked by a furious dressing down from Jose Mourinho. Real coach Mourinho threw caution to the wind with a triple substitution after delivering a withering halftime team talk with his side trailing 2-0, calling them "rubbish." Bryant, who had connected on just 26 percent of his shots over his previous two games, finally caught fire against the Rockets while team mate Andrew Bynum had 21 points and 22 rebounds as the Lakers got their fourth win in five games. South Africa, trying to win a series at home for the first time in three years, had slipped to 56 for two after being sent in to bat, before Kallis and Petersen rescued them with a 205-run partnership. Sri Lanka concede they misread Newlands pitch

photoCAPE TOWN (Reuters) - Bowling coach Champaka Ramanayake conceded Sri Lanka had misread the pitch when they asked South Africa to bat first in the third and final test on Tuesday and then compounded the mistake by bowling badly. At the close of the first day at Newlands, South Africa were 347 for three with Jacques Kallis unbeaten on 159. The series is tied 1-1. "We did not bowl well at all, especially in the first session when we could have kept them to under 80 runs.
