Report: Penn State Trustees Ask Coach to Keep McQueary Off the Sidelines Top

Filed under: Mike McQueary, TMZ Sports

1110_mike_mcqueary_getty_2BN
The Penn State board of trustees have reportedly asked new head football coach Tom Bradley to keep Mike McQueary from coaching from the sidelines on Saturday ... out of fear for McQueary's safety.

According to Pennsylvania's Morning Call newspaper ... the board does not plan to fire McQueary or ask him to step down.

McQueary is the person who claims he witnessed Jerry Sandusky raping a pre-teen boy in the Penn State locker room in 2002 ... and reported it to Joe Paterno.

While JoePa was fired for failing to contact police -- McQueary still has a job, despite the fact he also didn't call cops ... and worse yet, he didn't try to stop Sandusky from raping the boy when he had the chance.

It's unclear if Coach Bradley will pull McQueary from the sidelines on Saturday ... or have him coach from the skybox ... or instruct him to simply stay home.

As we previously reported, Murphy backed out from hosting the show yesterday -- after his friend Brett Ratner resigned from producing it ... following uproar over a homophobic slur Ratner dropped at a film screening.

This will be Crystal's 9th time hosting the Oscars.

Judge to Manny Ramirez -- You Can Talk to Your Wife Again Top

Filed under: Manny Ramirez, TMZ Sports, Celebrity Justice

Manny Ramirez is once again allowed to speak to his wife Juliana -- nearly two months after he was arrested for allegedly slapping her in the face.

TMZ broke the story ... Manny was booked for domestic violence and battery on September 12 -- and a day after the alleged incident, a judge issued a no contact order -- temporarily blocking Manny from speaking to Juliana, or contacting her in any way.

Lawyers for both parties showed up to court today in Florida -- and we're told, both sides agreed to lift the restraining order ... a request the judge granted.

But while Manny may now speak to his wife, he still can't live with her ... for now, at least. The next hearing is scheduled for December 14.

Mike McQueary testified he saw Jerry Sandusky raping a pre-teen boy in a Penn State locker room -- but didn't call police, or do anything to stop it. Yet, he'll be coaching for PSU this weekend? Is it right that McQueary's getting a pass?

Plus, all those Penn State rioters -- were they passionate Joe Paterno supporters ... or just stupid kids looking for a party? And did they end up damaging PSU's image more than anything else?

'16 & Pregnant' Star Dumps Baby Daddy, Hits the Road Top

Filed under: 16 and Pregnant, Break-ups, Exclusive

1110_whitney_purvis_EX_01
"16 and Pregnant" star Whitney Purvis tells TMZ, she's had her fill of her baby daddy's slacker do-nothing lifestyle ...so she dumped the guy, and took the kid to her parents' house.

18-year-old Whitney -- who was featured on the MTV show in 2009 -- tells us, she was living with her boyfriend and their son in an apartment in Georgia up until a couple of weeks ago -- but she decided to call it quits.

According to Whitney, she ended things because her man -- Weston Gosa -- "was gone all the time.  He wouldn’t come home until 3AM in the morning ... I was home with the baby and he was nowhere to be found.”

But Whitney doesn't believe Weston was cheating -- telling us, "You know when someone is cheating on you.  He was just out with his friends all the time getting messed up ... I don’t want that around my kid.”

Whitney claims the couple was fighting constantly and she just couldn't take it anymore, so she moved back in with her parents -- and took their son with her.

Attempts to reach Weston were unsuccessful.

Ashton Kutcher
doesn't trust himself with his own thoughts ... claiming his ignorant Twitter defense of Joe Paterno has made him realize that he isn't qualified to speak to 8 million people.

Kutcher just posted a long-winded message on his blog -- explaining that he has decided to turn over control of his Twitter account to his management team -- which will now filter Ashton's stream of uninformed thoughts before they are unleashed on the masses.

Kutcher writes, "Up until today I have posted virtually everyone of my tweets on my own, but clearly the platform has become to big to be managed by a single individual."

He continued, "While I will continue to express myself through @Aplusk I'm going to turn the management of the feed over to my team at Katalyst Media to ensure the quality of it's content."

He should have had the management team read over the blog before he published it -- because after he again apologized for the Paterno tweet, he wrote, "It was a mistake that I don't think will not happen again."

Witness to Alleged Jerry Sandusky Rape WILL Coach for Penn State on Saturday Top

Filed under: Joe Paterno, TMZ Sports

1110_mcquery_BN-01
The man who witnessed Jerry Sandusky allegedly rape a pre-teen boy in the Penn State locker room in 2002 WILL be allowed to continue as a receivers coach when the team plays Nebraska on Saturday ... this according to the new Penn State head coach Tom Bradley.

Bradley was just officially introduced as Joe Paterno's temporary replacement -- and stated, "Right now Mike McQueary will be coaching on Saturday."

McQueary was a 28-year-old graduate assistant in 2002, when he claims he witnessed Sandusky raping a little boy in the Penn State showers. McQueary reported the incident to Joe Paterno -- but never called police.

Paterno -- who also did NOT go to the cops -- was fired last night for not living up to his moral obligation to the child.

Bradley says he was unsure if McQueary will be coaching from the sidelines or if he will be up in the booth on Saturday.

Legal Team -- We Didn't Get a Red Cent from Murray Documentary Top

Dr. Conrad Murray
's legal team didn't get any money -- directly or indirectly -- from the Murray documentary that's about to air on MSNBC ... this according to sources directly connected to the Dr.'s defense team.

There are reports out today that MSNBC funded Murray's legal defense, but our sources say it is "absolute B.S."

We're told Murray's lead attorney, Ed Chernoff, is about to leave the case -- possibly before an appeal is filed -- because he needs to get back to his practice in Houston and make some money, because the Murray case almost put him under.

We're told Murray got $1 for his participation in the documentary.  But the people who are saying he got a buck will not say if he'll share in profits from selling the show.

Ashton Kutcher Apologizes -- Oops, Paterno Did What??!? Top

Filed under: Ashton Kutcher, TMZ Sports, You Might Want to Rethink

1109_ashton_kutcher_BN_01
Ashton Kutcher
attacked the Penn State Board of Trustees for firing Joe Paterno last night -- but there was one little problem, seems Ashton didn't know about Joe's misdeeds.

Right after Paterno got the chop, Kutcher tweeted, "How do you fire Jo Pa?  #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste."

Almost immediately, Kutcher was attacked by people informing the actor about the situation -- writing things like, "F**k you. He covered up child rape you sick, geriatric f**k."

Roughly 30 minutes later, Kutcher removed his original tweet -- and replaced it with, "Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn't have full story. #admitwhenYoumakemistakes."

He later continued, "This is an insane story, I just heard paterno was fired, getting the rest of the story now... Wow."

He added, "As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case."

Kutcher also replied to people who called him an idiot -- saying, "I am" -- adding, "Honestly just had half facts man my bad ... I need 2b more responsible 4 my voice."

La Toya Jackson is on the attack against MSNBC, claiming the Conrad Murray documentary that will air tomorrow will give "a murderer and convicted felon ... celebrity status."

La Toya fired off a letter to the network -- a letter obtained by TMZ -- in which she complains that Michael Jackson cannot defend himself against Murray's claims.  TMZ first reported, some of Murray's comments about MJ are extremely critical.

La Toya says she finds it "disgusting to permit this criminal to profit from homicidal acts that left my family without a brother, my niece and nephews without a father, my parents without a son ..."

La Toya wants the network to shelve the show, but if they don't she's asking the network to give the family an advance screening.

Legendary Penn State Coach Joe Paterno FIRED!! Top

Filed under: Joe Paterno, TMZ Sports

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is not untouchable, after all -- the university's board of trustees voted late Wednesday night to fire Paterno ... effective immediately.

The living legend, known as JoePa, announced early Wednesday that he would retire at the end of the season in the wake of the child sex abuse scandal that began with the arrest of Paterno's former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

In announcing his retirement, Paterno -- who's been PSU's head coach for 46 years -- said the trustees should "not spend a single minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address."

PSU President Graham Spanier was allowed to resign.

Paterno and Spanier are just two university officials who have been under fire for not going to police with their knowledge of Sandusky's alleged sex abuse incidents with young boys ... some dating back to 1994.

Hundreds of students are rallying on the Penn State campus -- many chanting support for Paterno.

2:41 AM PT At 2:00 ET, cops clad in riot gear issued a dispersal order to immediately leave the downtown area and the Old Main, and the students went home ... but not before some students turned over a TV microwave truck and tore down some street signs and a light post. Some students also set off fireworks, while chanting, "F**k the trustees."

10:00 PM PT

Student rallies are getting violent -- a local CBS news van was tipped over and street signs torn down. Police in riot gear are trying to disperse the crowds.

Nic Cage -- Drops $2,000 on MAMMOTH IVORY Steak Knife Top

1109_NIC_CAGE_KNIFE_EX_EM
Seems Nicolas Cage is finally over that whole "financial ruin" thing -- 'cause dude just dropped TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS on a steak knife in Alaska ... TMZ has learned.

Nic was chillin' in Anchorage Wednesday -- when he rolled into a bad ass custom blade shop called Northern Knives.

We're told Cage fell in love with a Don Dezarn original -- which featured MAMMOTH IVORY in the handle and a patriotic bald eagle engraved onto the 4-inch blade.

The knife is primarily used as a decorative piece, and one knife expert tells us it's common for people to wear similar blades as a holstered accessory with a "nice suit."

Knife experts tell us ... $2,000 is pretty reasonable for a knife of that caliber. But the crazy part ... Nic told people inside he plans to use his fancy shank to cut his steak!!!

Chew on that.

Heavy D -- Fitness Crusade Before Death Top

Filed under: Heavy D, R.I.P., Exclusive

1109_heavy_d_wm_2Heavy D hadn't given up on his health before his death -- TMZ has learned, the rapper was serious about battling his weight up to the very end ... running nearly everyday, and frequenting several L.A. gyms.

One of his most recent trainers -- a guy named Tony, who helped Heavy D lose 150 pounds in 2008 -- tells TMZ, D stopped in to Ultra Body Fitness in West Hollywood 3 months before his death ... and began to re-strategize his training program.

Tony tells us, the rapper looked like he hadn't worked out in a while and wanted to get active again.

At that point, sources close to Heavy D tell us, the rapper embarked on a daily running regimen and frequented several other nearby gyms to diversify his exercise experience -- incorporating everything from hiking to boxing.

At his peak, Tony tells us, Heavy worked out 6-7 days a week.

When he died, we're told everyone at Ultra Body Fitness was shocked -- and the members even erected a small memorial in Heavy's honor (below).

Wes Welker and Little People
Tom Brady's go-to receiver Wes Welker kicked off the NFL season by throwing a little party for his family and friends ... complete with a pint-sized wait staff, that Welker specifically requested.

Welker knows a thing or two about being the short guy -- he's listed at 5'9" ... which means he's probably closer to 5'8".

Still, sources connected to Welker tell TMZ ... when the New England Patriots stud was putting together a party back in September, he contacted the service company and asked to have a couple of little people on the wait staff.

The company delivered -- and we're told Welker was super happy with the service. One source who attended the party tells us Welker was "really nice" to everyone ... and probably got a kick out of not being the shortest guy in the room.

TMZ reached out to Welker's rep ... so far no word back.

During the transmission, the caller says the unidentified crew member is "barely coherent" -- and probably suffering from severe dehydration.

The crew member in question -- who we're told was a novice crab fisherman AKA a "greenhorn" -- was airlifted to a nearby hospital in Alaska for treatment.

Sources tell TMZ, he's doing a lot better now -- and a rep for Discovery adds they are "thankful to the Coast Guard and F/V Wizard crew members for their fast action and coordination."
