Reuters - (Reuters) - Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is set to miss their next two games at least after suffering a calf injury in the Europa League defeat at Sporting on Thursday, the Premier League leaders said. The Belgian international defender limped off early in the first leg of the last 16 tie in Lisbon which City lost 1-0. City said Kompany will miss the Premier League game at Swansea City on Sunday, the return leg against Sporting and the home clash with Chelsea on March 21 unless he recovered more quickly than anticipated. ... Reuters -  INDIAN WELLS, California (Reuters) - Rafa Nadal has lost his last seven matches against world number one Novak Djokovic but the Spaniard denies that he has a burning obsession to beat the Serb. The pair last met in January's Australian Open final when Djokovic clinched the title for a third time with an epic 5-7 6-4 6-2 6-7 7-5 victory that lasted almost six hours. While Nadal enjoys a 16-14 career advantage over the Serb, he has been beaten on all types of surfaces in their past seven encounters, all of them in finals. ...

Brazil football chief takes medical leave

Reuters -  SAO PAULO (Reuters) - The president of Brazil's soccer confederation (CBF) and head of the country's 2014 World Cup organizing committee Ricardo Teixeira has taken a medical leave of absence, Brazilian state soccer chiefs said on Thursday. Teixeira, who did not specify how long he would be absent, has been head of the CBF for more than two decades but is the subject of repeated corruption allegations. He is reported to be suffering from diverticulitis, a painful inflammation of the bowel lining. ...
