Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin formally accepted the Republican vice presidential nomination at the party's convention in Tampa.

"I accept the duty to help lead our nation out of a jobs crisis and back to prosperity. And I know we can do this," Ryan said. "America needs a turnaround, and the man for the job is Gov. Mitt Romney."

Romney is scheduled to accept his party's nomination for president on Thursday night during the final speech of the convention.
