Breaking News

The U.S. government filed a lawsuit against North Carolina for a state bathroom law that U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch called “state-sponsored discrimination against transgender individuals.”

The lawsuit came hours after Gov. Pat McCrory sued the Justice Department, asking a federal court to rule whether the state act violates U.S. law.

Also Monday, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit challenging Mississippi's religious freedom law, which critics say will discriminate against gay and transgender people.
