CNN Breaking News

A computer problem at a Virginia air traffic control center led to significant flight delays today at airports in the Washington and New York City areas, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The FAA "is diagnosing an automation problem at an air traffic control center in Leesburg, Virginia," FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen told CNN. "We are directing high-altitude traffic around the affected airspace," Bergen said.

Airports with delays include Baltimore-Washington International Airport, where departures were stalled up to two hours as of 1:15 p.m. ET, the FAA said.
