Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert has been sentenced to 2 years of supervised release in his hush-money case.

A federal judge in Chicago on Wednesday also recommended that Hastert participate in a sex offender treatment program.

Hastert pleaded guilty last fall to structuring bank transactions to avoid reporting requirements about where the money was going. Upon investigation, federal officials determined he was paying hush money to an alleged victim of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred when Hastert was a wrestling coach and teacher in Illinois.
