Gift Guide: Victorinox Dive Master 500 Dive Watch Top
As one of TechCrunch's resident watch fans, I was intrigued by the Victorinox Dive Master 500, a fairly unique automatic watch that brings the best of the Swiss mechanical along with styling reminiscent of some of the better divers. The build is solid, the 43mm case is well-polished, and the face is very legible. Interestingly, I'd actually recommend this for a fairly adventurous lady who is looking for something a little more rugged - and handsome - than the traditional sport watch.

Network Giants Argue In Appeals Court: Aereo Should Be Treated Like A Cable Company Top
nycourtToday the Southern District Court of NY heard the oral argumentsfrom Fox, ABC, Univision and a handful of other cable broadcast providers who wish to see streaming network TV startup Aereo's business shut down. This is just the latest development in an unwinding legal battle over whether the startup's service, which uses hundreds of tiny antennas to stream live and recorded TV to internet-connected devices, is infringing the networks copyrights. The plaintiffs switched gears a bit today, focusing on Aereo's existence as a retransmission service rather than focusing on the DVR-like functionality of the service.

Apple has cut bulk and thinned out the edges with a tapered design that is only 5 mm thick at the edge. Here's what the new 21.5-inch version of the iMac looks like, and how it stacks up to other Apple hardware, past and present.

Video: How Reddit Was Born Top
09y97o90fkuqqas68g5yThere are only a few founders that I really like and Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian are two of them. These lads, with their bright-eyed charm and genuinely nice personalities, created Reddit in 2005 with the help of Paul Graham and Y Combinator. This video by ATotalDisruption tells that story quite well and is a must-see for all young entrepreneurs and media types.

Apple Vets Carriers For 4G Performance Before Allowing iPhone 5 To Be Sold As An LTE Device Top
LTE-iphone-5Apple wants to ensure that customer experience with its iPhone 5 lives up to what the company is promising, and it will take strong measures to do so, including telling carriers when they can and can't make the phone's LTE capabilities available to subscribers. Generally speaking, carriers test to ensure devices meet their own network standards, but Apple seems to be in a strong enough position to be able to reverse that relationship.

R.I.P. Frothy Times, A Return To Normalcy Top
Screen Shot 2012-11-30 at 12.48.17 AMWhatever it is, it is palpable. A sort of buzz in the Valley that all is not well, and a slight nervousness among entrepreneurs, investors and startup employees as they flit about their day-to-day. We may not be in the middle of an outright private market collapse, but there will definitely be fewer tigers and monkeys at this year's holiday parties. The fingernail biting is not just caused by the Series A crunch, which has been happening for a year, although that is definitely a part of it ("20 percent of companies that have gotten a seed round in the last year will be able to raise a Series A" Sarah Lacy wrote on Wednesday, aptly comparing the current jostle for venture money to a game of musical chairs).
